Oakland, California – At the edge of a large construction site at the MacArthur BART Station in the Temescal Neighborhood of Oakland, representatives from international real estate developer Hines along with other key players such as the PNC Bank, AFL-CIO, Build Group Construction, and the Temescal BID gathered for a ceremonial ground breaking of major new mixed-use project called MacArthur Commons. In attendance was Oakland’s Mayor Libby Schaaf who spoke about the excitement surrounding the project and all involved. Lockehouse Retail Group has been retained to lease up to 20,000 square feet of new ground floor retail space slated for the project. “Lockehouse is thrilled to be part of this major new project. We are looking forward to working with the community to bring a variety if exciting local and regional retailers and restaurants that add to the community and create convenience for its residents and employees,” said Chris Homs, a VP with Lockehouse Retail Group.
About Hines and MacArthur Commons
MacArthur Commons will be a 385 unit, for-rent multifamily development located in Oakland’s Temescal district. The 2.18-acre project will consist of three separate residential buildings, totaling 468,570 square feet. Designed by Ankrom Moisan Architects, MacArthur Commons will feature a fitness center, a clubroom, an outdoor pool and spa, and a pedestrian plaza – termed “The Mews” – between the buildings.
Located at the epicenter of the East Bay, MacArthur Commons is directly adjacent to the MacArthur BART station, the largest BART stop in the Bay Area. This allows residents unparalleled access to regional hubs, such as Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley and Emeryville. MacArthur Commons is also in immediate proximity to major Bay Area thoroughfares, including Interstate 80 (Bay Bridge) and Interstate 580. Construction began in February 2017 and is scheduled for completion in November 2018. For More information, please visit: www.hines.com/properties/macarthur-commons-oakland.
