Matthew Fainchtein is Executive Managing Director of Los Angeles for Lockhouse Retail Group. He spent the last nine years at Cushman & Wakefield (“C&W”), specializing in urban and high-street retail. Prior to C&W, he was a Senior Director of RKF (now a division of Newmark). His first stint out of college was working in the entertainment industry as a literary agent at CAA and UTA before transitioning to real estate in 2006.

As a broker, Matthew has played an instrumental role in transforming the retail landscape in many neighborhoods of Los Angeles. He has been known to pioneer new retail neighborhoods such as the Arts District, Abbot Kinney and Silver Lake as well as reinvigorating existing retail neighborhoods like Robertson & Beverly Boulevards in West Hollywood and North Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills.

Matthew also represents an impressive list of landlord clients throughout Los Angeles. His current sleight of listings includes the redevelopment of the Town & Country shopping centre across from The Grove and Original Farmers Market as well as the leasing of high profile single tenant assets like 8901 Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood and the multi-tenant property on the corner of 3rd Street Promenade and Santa Monica Blvd. in Downtown Santa Monica.

He has also been instrumental in the sale of trophy properties. Most recently he sold 2.83 acres of unentitled development land in Marina Del Rey for a record price of $37 million ($300.00 psf). He is currently marketing a trophy retail asset on Melrose Avenue at the gateway to the West Hollywood Design & Fashion District.

Currently Matthew has secured leases with Todd Snyder at The Grove and is in the process of rolling out three more LA locations for the menswear brand. Over the last two years, he has secured leases for Erewhon and Sweetgreens in the Beverly Hills “Golden Triangle” and with one of Chicago’s finest restaurant groups for their Etta and Maple & Ash brands. Matthew consistently collaborates with some of LA’s largest property owners and developers in helping them develop and execute their vision with success.
