Berkeley’s upscale Fourth Street shopping district is getting a slate of new retail offerings set to open in the spring of 2017 with the completion of a mixed-use development on the corner of Fourth and Hearst.
Developed by Atlanta-based real estate investment and management firm Jamestown, the 22,500-square-foot addition has signed leases with prominent women’s clothing brand Madewell; San Francisco-based casual apparel retailer Marine Layer; Berkeley-based designer Stella Carakasi; and Los Angeles-based fast casual chain Lemonade, which has launched a rapid Bay Area expansion.
The development will feature multiple retail options ranging in size from 600 to 5,700 square feet as well as over 12,000 square-feet of flexible design office space, a walkway and 100 public parking spaces. The new construction office space will be available for tenant improvements early 2017 with move-in by spring.
The development sits adjacent to the historic Spenger’s Fish Grotto restaurant, Anthropologie and Paper Source, located on the south end of the Fourth Street Berkeley shopping district. Other Fourth Street offerings include local favorites such as Castle in the Air, Sola Lucy and The Gardener, as well as national retailers including Apple, Crate & Barrel, Peet’s Coffee & Tea and MAC Cosmetics.
